General FAQs - Sampling, Manufacturing, Designing, Consulting

What kind of brands does The Odd Factory work with?

The Odd Factory works with bespoke, luxury, creative, artistic, and quality-driven fashion brands that care deeply about craftsmanship, finish, originality, and thoughtful production. We are not the right fit for brands looking for rushed, low-cost, mass-market manufacturing. Our work is best suited for labels that want to create pieces with intention and deliver exceptional quality to their customers. We are slow fashion and woven wear focussed.

Do you manufacture for all kinds of brands?

No. We work selectively. Our process is built for brands that value detail, creativity, design, quality, premium construction, and strong ethical standards. If your priority is the cheapest possible costing, ultra-fast output, “urgent” , fast fashion, low quality or generic bulk production, we are not the right manufacturing partner for you.Sampling and Manufacturing alongside all other services is for International Fashion Brands and Start Ups Only. For Brands within India, we provide: Designing, Sourcing and Procurement, Connecting you to Manufacturers, Consulting you on Starting a Fashion Brand and Scaling it if you are stuck with sales.

What is your MOQ?

MOQ depends on the type of garment, complexity of construction, fabric, surface techniques, and finishing requirements. Since we work on bespoke manufacturing and not ready to ship styles, minimums for bulk can only be advised once we review your design details properly. While we do support 1 piece sampling, as per industry standards, the efforts, cost of labor and procurement for a single unit will always be on the higher side.

Can I place a bulk order without sampling?

No. Sampling is an essential part of the process. Before manufacturing begins, samples need to be assessed by you so that fit, finish, construction, fabric behavior, detailing, and overall look are aligned. Bulk production moves forward only after the sample stage is approved.Jumping straight into production without proper clarity creates avoidable errors, delays, cost issues, and quality mismatches.

Do you keep fabrics in stock?

We do not operate like a ready-stock fabric seller. We have a green and sustainable model. We procure sustainable fabrics as per your requirements.Fabric sourcing depends on your design direction, garment type, finish expectations, and quantity. Every order requires procurement of unique materials in varying quantities basis what the design needs instead of a fixed stock list. We prefer to provide the brand with freedom of choice rather them making them choose from a limited inventory of what’s available.

Can you help me choose the right fabric and trims even if I don't manufacture with you?

Yes. Via our 1:1 strategic consultations we help you finalise on suitable sustainable fabrics, trims, finishings, and other material decisions that support the final look and functionality of the garment. Our role is to help translate a well-defined concept into a production-ready product with the right material choices.

We do not have designs ready yet. Can we still start sampling manufacturing?

No. We do not entertain manufacturing queries until you have exact design tech packs, size charts, references, and concepts ready. We can support development once your direction is clear, but production cannot begin based on vague inspiration alone. If your ideas are still in the concept stage and you need help shaping them into something production-ready, you can explore The Green Room, where we help you transform your concepts and designs into actual sellable products.

Can you design my collection for me?

Yes. We work 1:1 with you from building your brand concept to establishing unique designs. We design and curate collections for brands. Explore The Green Room for our Designing Packages.

What do I need to share to get a quote?

To receive a sensible quote, please share:

  • Tech packs or detailed garment specifications
  • Fabric or material preferences
  • Surface technique details such as embroidery, printing, handwork, etc.
  • Quantity per style and Size ratio of each style
  • Any special finishing, packaging, labeling, or branding requirements

Without proper details, pricing can only be vague and unreliable.

Do you have a fixed price list?

No. We do not work with fixed blanket pricing because every style is different. Costing depends on the design complexity, fabric, trims, techniques, quantity, finishing, and packaging requirements. Since our work is custom-led and bespoke prices are developed project by project.

Can you tell me the price of a garment without seeing the design?

No.Giving random pricing without studying the design details leads to unrealistic expectations. We only share costs after reviewing the garment properly so the estimate reflects the actual work involved.

What types of products do you manufacture?

We manufacture fashion products aligned with our specialization in bespoke, luxury, artistic, pret, premium home linen, high quality slowfashion resort wear, spring summer, womens wear, mens wear, unisex wear, kids wear, woven fabric based accessories and detail-oriented creative/unique woven based products. This may include garments that involve elevated construction, custom finishes, embroidery, artistic detailing, thoughtful silhouettes, premium fabrics, and brand-specific development needs.

Do you sell ready stock or send a catalogue?

No. We are not a ready-stock wholesaler. We do not maintain a catalogue of finished styles for resale. Our work is based on custom development and made-to-order manufacturing for brands. Each project is developed according to the client’s own collection vision and specifications.

Can you reproduce another brand’s design?

We do not encourage the direct copying of another brand’s original work. We work best with labels that want to build their own identity and create thoughtfully developed products. Reference images can help communicate direction, but they should not replace original design development.

Can I visit your factory or meet your team?

No, unless mutually fixed. We schedule online meetings. We do not encourage unplanned walk-ins. The best first step is to share your requirement brief along with your design details so our team can understand whether the project is the right fit. Once there is clarity, a proper discussion is scheduled.

Can you make luxury pieces at very cheap prices?

Quality, craftsmanship, and cheap pricing do not usually go hand in hand. If a garment requires premium fabrics, refined finishing, skilled workmanship, embroidery, hand detailing, or design-sensitive execution, the costing must support that level of output. We focus on value, quality, and brand credibility rather than unrealistic cheap production.

Can you do custom prints, embroidery, dyes or surface techniques?

Yes, subject to design clarity and technical feasibility. If your brand requires custom print development, embroidery, artistic handwork, or special finishes, these can be evaluated during the development stage. Sampling and approvals are essential before bulk execution for such details.

What is your manufacturing process?

Our process generally moves through these stages:

  1. Requirement review
  2. Design and specification assessment
  3. Material and trim planning
  4. Pattern and sample development
  5. Sample approvals and corrections
  6. Bulk production planning
  7. Quality checks
  8. Finishing, packing, and dispatch readiness

The exact flow and cost will vary depending on the nature of the collection.

How do you maintain quality?

Quality is built into the process, not checked only at the end. We monitor materials, construction, measurements, finishing, detailing, and overall consistency through multiple stages of development and production. Since we work with brands that care about exceptional output, quality control is a core part of how we function.

How long does production take?

Timelines depend on the number of styles, complexity, fabric lead times, sampling rounds, approvals, surface techniques, and total order quantity. We do not promise unrealistic turnaround times without studying the requirement. A more accurate timeline can be shared once the project is reviewed properly.

Do you work with new brands and start up brands?

Yes – but only if the brand comes prepared. Being new is not a problem; being unclear is. If you are a new brand, you are welcome at The Green Room where we take you from concept to manufacturing.

What kind of inquiries do you not entertain?

We usually do not proceed with inquiries that sound like:

  • “I have an idea but no design yet”
  • “Can you just make something similar?”
  • “I want to start immediately but don’t have tech packs”
  • “Can you tell me the price without details?”
  • “I want luxury quality at the lowest possible rate”
  • “What is your moq, timeline and costing”

We work best with brands that are serious, prepared, and respectful of the process. The process of knowing each other has to be mutual. We do not answer vague queries, we do not have open ended calls.

Why should a brand prepare properly before approaching manufacturing?

Because strong production begins with strong clarity. When designs, measurements, references, and technical details are not ready, the brand risks:

  • wrong costing
  • sampling confusion
  • delays in development
  • quality mismatches
  • avoidable revisions
  • inconsistent final output

A well-prepared brand saves time, money, and creative energy.
